The Quality Technician II supports the blending and packaging of our high-performance petroleum products by verifying that all fluids meet quality and integrity standards. You will independently test material properties, collaborate with production teammates to resolve issues and participate in quality improvement efforts. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical accuracy and the ability to perform root cause investigations with limited guidance. Rooted in Our Values you will help maintain product consistency and support continuous improvement across laboratory and production environments.



  • Test chemical and physical properties of finished lubricants
  • Collaborate with production to correct quality issues
  • Adjust blends independently based on test results
  • Perform packaging line audits using established audit tools
  • Support multiple sites as needed based on staffing requirements
  • Clean and stock laboratory materials to maintain readiness
  • Dispose of expired quality samples following proper procedures
  • Calibrate and validate laboratory instruments
  • Prepare calibration standards for routine testing
  • Assist with used oil analysis in collaboration with the Chemist
  • Provide certification of analysis as needed
  • Troubleshoot quality and instrumentation issues with guidance
  • Implement continuous improvement projects under direct supervision
  • Investigate nonconforming products and manage Q-hold activities
  • Demonstrate and model Our Values in all interactions



Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or equivalent experience


Experience and/or Training:



  • 3 years of experience in a quality or laboratory environment
  • Experience performing safe laboratory practices


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong oral, written, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform calculations for proportions and solutions
  • Ability to work independently to organize work and manage priorities
  • Knowledge of laboratory test methods and quality standards
  • Ability to interpret data and identify out-of-spec conditions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and follow through
  • Ability to perform accurate blend adjustments and calculations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
    Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy



Experience and/or Training:



  • Experience supporting fluid blending, packaging or petroleum manufacturing
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives



Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands:



  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing and use of hands for lab and testing work
  • Occasional bending, twisting, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting and carrying
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Use of required PPE including lab coat or safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, long pants and closed-toed shoes
  • Work performed in laboratory, office and production environments with exposure to chemicals, fumes, vapors and noise
