Network Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Network Engineer for an 8-month contract opportunity with a Public Sector organization located in South Minneapolis, in the Longfellow neighborhood. This hybrid position requires onsite work for the first 8 weeks, followed by a schedule of 2 days remote each week.

In this role, you will collaborate in the architecture, design, and administration of enterprise networks. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as providing tier 3 technical support.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate in the architecture and design of enterprise networks
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies or applications of technologies for the enterprise
• Install, maintain, configure, test, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with networks and related equipment including routers, switches, and firewalls
• Support and administer TCP/IP Ethernet networks
• Assist with software/hardware upgrades and distribution
• Provide technical tier 3 support to staff as needed
• Provide 24/7 support for networks, including on-site response and troubleshooting
• Provide support to all network users and respond to calls and pages within one hour of receipt

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field
• Instead of four years of experience providing technical support for TCP/IP Ethernet networks (with a minimum of 500 nodes in a Microsoft Windows environment) and experience configuring and installing routers, switches, and firewalls
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated skills in working effectively with others both individually and in groups to troubleshoot problems, create procedures, and provide technical support
• Ability to lift, carry, and position up to 40 pounds
• Valid state-issued license. Reliable to commute between job sites

Desired skills:

• Cisco CCNA certification
• MSE certification (network)
• Network certification
• Experience with multicast routing
• Experience with large SCADA installations (building automation systems)
• Experience with IP telephony
• Experience with large campus network design for resiliency
• Experience with Cisco Nexus

Pay range: $42.80 - $52.80 per hour
