What to Expect
As an Engineering Technician on Tesla's Power Electronics Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the launch of cutting-edge power electronics products and sub-components. This role involves hands-on work in the lab, collaborating with teams focused on EMC, drive inverters, power conversion systems, and other power electronic devices. Responsibilities include preparing materials for pilot builds, maintaining lab operations, troubleshooting electromechanical systems, and contributing to process improvements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure line readiness, meet critical timelines, and deliver high-quality, innovative products to market.
What You'll Do
- Support prototype builds for power electronics subassemblies and fixturing
- Manage material inventory and procurement for fabrication projects
- Enforce 5S standards and safety protocols in the lab, ensuring compliance with Tesla's EH&S policies
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and analysis of electromechanical systems to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Ensure all testing activities adhere to safety protocols and industry standards, especially in high-voltage environments
- Assist in the assembly, testing, and analysis of engineering prototypes to validate design assumptions and identify improvement opportunities
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
What You'll Bring
- Extensive practical experience in a similar role with a strong background in engineering principles and practices
- Proficiency in mechanical fabrication, expert-level skills with hand and power tools, and experience in machine shop operations
- Familiarity with standard electronics lab tools, including AC/DC meters, data acquisition systems, and wiring harnesses
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team with strong self-direction and initiative
- Experience supporting the maintenance of lab equipment and mechanical tooling, including preventative maintenance
- Familiarity with software suites such as MS Office, Jira, and Confluence
- Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
