Description

As Quality Technician with Safco, you will be one of the primary technicians ensuring quality standards are met throughout the entire production process resulting in process improvements and cost savings for the company. Your attention to detail will be critical while working cross-functionally with production employees, supervisors and engineers.

This full-time position will report to the Quality & EHS Manager at our Safco Products location in Milford, Iowa.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform testing and inspection of parts using a variety of inspection tools. Ensure components are within specified physical, color and texture standards utilizing blueprints
  • Inspection of production, warranty, and specialized orders as needed
  • Review of internal and external quality concerns including determining root cause with internal and external contacts and developing a corrective action for approval
  • Gather quality data from multiple production sites with use of quality tools, processes and computer software and determine areas for improvement
  • Developing visual analysis tools including but not limited to Pareto charts
  • Process FMEAs, CAPA and other quality corrective actions as needed
  • Document new product requirements as needed
  • Monitor and analyze First Pass Yield (FPY) performance across production processes to ensure products meet quality standards
  • Other duties, as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Associate Degree in Quality Assurance or related field and 1 - 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment OR Minimum of 3+ years of proven experience in a quality inspection role (in lieu of a degree)
  • Previous experience with the following required: calipers, tape measures, protractor, control plans, FMEAs, root cause analysis
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to build rapport with personnel throughout different levels of the organization
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings
  • Excellent technical communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate issues clearly to both technical and non-technical team members
  • Must be able to efficiently organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Exhibit high attention to detail

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with metal and/or wood manufacturing a plus
  • Exposure or experience with the following preferred: First Article Inspections (FAI) and PPAP
  • Experience working in a high-mix, low to mid volume manufacturing environment

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay range for this position is $22.75 - $28.44per hour. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
