Visiting Assistant Professor University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign The Department of Sociology in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a 9-month Visiting Assistant Professor position for the academic year 2026-2027. Renewal of the position is possible, contingent on strong enrollments, strong performance reviews, and availability of funding. Duties and Responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS Required: Ph.D. in Sociology, or Ph.D. in related areas, evidence of research productivity and a year of teaching experience . Additional expertise in in Law and Society, Criminology or Deviance is preferred.
This is a full-time, 9-month appointment, non-tenure track position, with possible renewable for one year, subject to enrollments, funding, and positive performance evaluations Target start date is August 16, 2026. The budgeted salary range for the position is $65,000 to $70,000. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship work authorization. This position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis per the University's Workplace Flexibility policy.
