This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. Job Description

Blue Origin Lunar Permanence is seeking a Fluids Engineer to oversee the Reaction Control System (RCS) Integrated Testing. This critical role is essential to the success of our mission to the moon and requires a candidate with strong fluids principles, organizational skills, and experience with project management.

This role will be a mix of fluids engineering coupled with project management. The perfect candidate would be a person who has experience in either test operations or fluids design and is looking to bridge into project management.

The role will report to the Gas and Thrusters Integrated Product team lead but will be led day to day by the Gas and Thrusters Technical Project manager as well as the RCS Integrated Testing Lead Systems Engineer (SE). You will be expected to help manage the integration of two sub-system testing, aid the SE with technical documentation, plan the testing with all stakeholders. This includes providing comprehensive insight and management throughout the entire project lifecycle, encompassing initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and decommissioning. Utilizing your engineering experience, you will lead and guide Responsible Engineers through each phase of the project, reporting to the Managers and Leads over each subsystem and exercising delegated authority to aid in the execution of the project. Fostering a collaborative environment with a servant leadership attitude, you will ensure all team members are aligned and motivated toward project goals. Demonstrated resourcefulness and tenacity for getting things done in an organized and fast-paced environment is a must.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Operations Management, Mathematics, or related disciplines
  • 2+ years engineering experience; preferably working with fluid systems
  • 1+ year experience with project management oversight (either design, manufacturing, operations, or other related fields)
  • Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)
  • Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Understanding of critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM
  • Experience making dashboards and other tools to help manage project teams
  • Experience with MS Project, or similar scheduling software packages
  • Experience with Agile project management methodology and JIRA software
  • Experience using risk management tools and processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while regularly providing imaginative and detailed solutions to complex problems
  • Hands-on experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systems
  • Develop and maintain interface definitions between the vehicle and subsystems.
  • Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing development projects (schedule, budget, scope)
  • Experience managing manufacturing schedules (schedule, budget, scope)
  • Experience using financial analysis tools and keeping teams on schedule and budget
  • Experience with Hypergolic systems and testing

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
