Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Analyst for the Effective School Practice Center. The primary role of this grant-funded position is to advance the Center's research agenda through the production of high-quality written scholarship and research outputs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Leads the writing and development of technical reports, policy briefs, grant proposals, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Synthesizes complex qualitative and quantitative data into clear, compelling narratives tailored to academic, policy, and practitioner audiences.
- Provides leadership in project conceptualization and development, fieldwork implementation and management, and sophisticated data analysis.
- Writes technical reports and peer-reviewed publications.
- Researches new proposals and secure contracts for grant-funded research.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's of Arts or Science in education, sociology, statistics or related field and minimum of five years of experience in applied research and evaluation in an academic setting.

- A valid driver's license would be required for this position.

| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Ability to manage large research projects such as conduct fieldwork and write reports and academic papers.
- Advanced level of statistical skills to provide data, analytical, and programming support to Center researchers, graduate students, and affiliated individuals and agencies.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree or some post baccalaureate study preferred.
- Advanced training or specialization in public policy, data analytics, program evaluation, or a related interdisciplinary field.
- Demonstrated experience authoring or co-authoring peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, or policy-relevant research products.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets, including cleaning, managing, and analyzing administrative or longitudinal data.
- Proficiency in statistical programming and data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL, Stata, or similar) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience applying mixed-methods research approaches, including integrating qualitative and quantitative data to inform findings and recommendations.
- Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti) and experience conducting interviews, focus groups, and thematic analysis.
- Experience working on grant-funded research projects, including supporting proposal development, contributing to funded project deliverables, and coordinating reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with government agencies, education systems, or community-based organizations in research or policy contexts.
- Experience developing dashboards, data products, or other tools to communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
- Strong interest in or commitment to issues related to education, workforce development, health, or social policy, particularly in areas related to equity and access.
- Direct research experience in education and supervisory experience.
