Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join us as a Digital Forensics Investigator!

About the role

In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for the collection, analysis, and preservation of electronic evidence. You will support Corporate Security investigations while leading complex cybercrime incidents, requiring strong technical expertise. You will also provide forensic support to Human Resources, IT, and Legal teams and manage critical security systems, including badging, surveillance cameras, and visitor management.

What you will do



  • Investigate cases involving "ghost employees," including recovering company-issued laptops and analyzing system access, activity, and data downloads
  • Conduct digital forensic reviews to determine user behavior, access history, and potential misuse of company systems
  • Support ongoing corporate investigations, including fraud cases and internal security matters
  • Perform risk assessments ahead of senior leadership events to identify and mitigate potential security threats
  • Serve as a super admin across key systems, with the ability to access, manipulate, and report on data as needed
  • Manage and administer the case management system, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of investigations
  • Partner closely with the aligned manager as the technical expert, providing insights and support on investigative and system-related matter

Compensation

Salary Range: $117,000 - $195,100 base plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are:



  • You have a high school diploma (required), plus a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field, preferred
  • Bring 6-10 years of relevant experience, ideally with a law enforcement or similar investigative background
  • Experienced in digital forensics, with a strong ability to investigate system access, user activity, and data movement
  • Skilled in analyzing complex cases, including fraud and internal security investigations
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments and identifying potential security threats
  • Advanced user (super admin level) of systems and case management tools, with the ability to manipulate data and generate reports
  • Technically adept with forensic tools (e.g., Forensic Toolkit/FTK) and other investigative technologies
  • Hold relevant certifications (e.g., Secret Service, FBI, DOJ, or equivalent)
  • Comfortable working in an executive-facing role; calm, composed, and confident under pressure
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong data analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent communicator who can collaborate effectively with diverse partners and cross-functional teams
  • Hold a valid passport and able to travel as needed in support of senior leadership activities (travel is estimated to be 3-4 times per year)
  • Based in the Central or Eastern Time Zone to support business and leadership alignment
