Pay Range: $94,000 to $117,500 per year.

Position Summary

The role of the Safety Manager is to provide safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the operations' safety continuous improvement efforts at the site level. As an integral member of the Safety Team, this position will support and advise site management about the safety systems.

Essential Functions



  • Assist in a proactive local safety strategy that drives the location(s) to remain healthy, safe, and operational.
  • Participates in developing a vision for safety, includes continual enhancement of established programs and consistent implementation of new programs within a team environment.
  • The manager will facilitate the development and sustainability of the safety culture, supporting the goals, behaviors, and actions of Foster Farms' Corporate Safety Program and will act as a change agent to accelerate best practice sharing.
  • Facilitate the safety programs for the site; recommend the design and implementation of new programs to prevent Team member injuries and minimize company losses.
  • Monitors compliance of safety programs through audits, inspections, spot checks, and regular plant walk-throughs.
  • Inspect equipment, working conditions, and maintain OSHA files and supporting documents.
  • Regularly inspect and review plant operations to assure compliance of all permits operation and equipment are within state and federal regulations.
  • Report any potential violations and recommends corrections, as needed.
  • Analyze accident statistics to establish necessary precautions and changes needed for facility safety.
  • Communicates safety procedure changes to Business Partners; ensures all health safety policies, procedures, and practices are reviewed on an annual basis or as changes and updates are required by practices or regulation and are rolled-out in a timely manner.
  • Conduct safety inspections and procedural audits and have the skills, knowledge, and ability to take immediate corrective action if required.
  • Reviews all safety documents, policies, procedures, and incident reports. Drive change through developing corrective actions related to root cause, indirect cause, and direct cause, as well as providing training on corrective actions to affected Team members.
  • Investigates all safety-related incident reviews and incident reports and completes necessary reports for risk management system and corporate safety office.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed country and state specific safety and legal regulations.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or Industrial Technology or related field preferred or equivalent experience in safety management.
  • 3+ years' experience in safety and sustainability management.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA hazard communications, accident investigation, and safety training methods.
  • Strong ability to manage RCA's from Start to Finish using 5 why.
  • Good understanding of 5s Principles and application thereof.
  • Good understanding of Gemba Walk Principles and Applications.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Business Partners.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government.
