The Rough Finishing Department of Chromalloy Castings Tampa processes superalloy castings through various mechanical and chemical cycles to removing castings from gating and ceramic shell as well as ceramic cores. The area is monitored by a Manufacturing Engineer, also referred to as a Process Owner. The Process Owner is responsible for the engineering of the department, including defining the processes, techniques, and equipment used to remove castings from gating and ceramic shells and cores. They also document these procedures and standards. The Process Owner is expected to be a self-starter and the engineering expert for their area. They are responsible for identifying and solving problems, as well as continuously improving the area in terms of safety, throughput, and scrap reduction.


Responsibilities:



  • Leverage expertise in casting methods, engineering fundamentals, and creative problem-solving to design efficient processes that meet customer specifications and delivery deadlines.
  • Analyze customer specifications and blueprints and translate them into accurate process procedures.
  • Participate in and perform hands-on troubleshooting, calibrations, maintenance (including preventative maintenance) and repair of the heat treatment furnaces and related equipment.
  • Develop and maintain clear, concise shop instruction templates to ensure consistent production practices
  • Request and follow up on quotes for equipment and supplies
  • Drive continuous improvement in the Rough Finishing area by sourcing new equipment and fixtures, implementing process improvements, and recommending upgrades.
  • Perform & evaluate pyrometry surveys to maintain accurate temperature readings.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a similar discipline
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledgeable with Six Sigma Methods and Tools, and Associated Engineering Statistical Methods
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership



Preferred Skills:



  • Familiar with metal cutoff, metal gate grinding, and CNC
  • Familiar with chemicals to facilitate ceramic core removal

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
