IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team!We are currently seeking a SUE Technician in our Dallas, TX office. The Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician is a second level position for subsurface utility locating. The Technician will be exposed to providing office production duties of all SUE activities for locations by subsurface utility equipment including geophysical prospecting for underground utilities. The SUE Technician will also support overall SUE field crew activities. The Technician will be responsible for providing SUE assistance under leadership from an office SUE Coordinator.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform SUE location duties associated with geophysical prospecting to accurately designate underground utility layouts and perform routine computations for various project types.

  • Research utility records and coordination with utility companies.

  • Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of SUE field data, SUE database and internal company project folders. Process data collection and field notes for quality control.

  • Assist with plans and reports describing the SUE locations performed.

  • Knowledge for the operation, maintenance and care of SUE equipment, data collection and other location equipment.

  • Act as a SUE field tech or assist SUE field work as requested.

  • Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers.

  • Assist in training junior staff members.

  • Operate a company vehicle.

  • Observe safety and security procedures.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of SUE operations, principles, practices and marking techniques including sweep, direct connects, indirect connects and induction methods.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents.

  • Knowledgeable with on-site office operation, office workflow processes, and problem solving techniques.

  • Understanding SUE operations, equipment, and methods.

  • Knowledgeable with AutoCAD, SUE, GPS, MS Office software.

  • Knowledge of jurisdictional and industry requirements.

  • Possess oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate with clients, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG.

  • Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check.

  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays.

Education & Experience:

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred.

  • 1 years of experience minimum required, 2 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.

  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.

  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
