DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
This position oversees firefighting operations, crew supervision, and emergency response activities that protect personnel, aircraft, and facilities at the 193rd Special Operations Wing. The role focuses on directing crews, managing apparatus, and ensuring safe and efficient emergency operations. As an Installation Firefighter Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Fire Response Leadership: Direct firefighting efforts involving aircraft fuels, chemicals, facilities, and rescue activities
- Crew Supervision: Assign daily tasks, plan work schedules, determine training needs, and oversee activities of firefighters
- Equipment Oversight: Manage placement, operation, and maintenance of fire apparatus, tools, and safety equipment
- Safety and Inspection: Monitor facility safety inspections and help correct hazards to maintain safe operations
- Administrative Management: Oversee station logs, guide staffing choices, set work priorities, and address performance or conduct issues
- Emergency Coordination: Notify mutual aid companies when needed and assist in emergency scene safety and procedures

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Installation Firefighter, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of firefighting experience as a member of a municipal or governmental fire department and possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require an active Firefighter II, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, and Fire Officer II certifications from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
- All positions require possession of an active Hazardous Materials Awareness certification and an active Hazardous Materials Operations certification from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
- All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- All employees in this job must initially and annually be medically certified as meeting the medical requirements of Department of Defense Manual 6055.05, Occupational Medical Examinations: Medical Surveillance and Medical Qualification or the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1582, Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments as required by their position's federal reimbursement authority.
- All employees must obtain within one year of hire and maintain over the course of employment an active Class B Pennsylvania commercial driver's license or an active certificate of authorization to operate fire emergency vehicles issued by the Fire Chief of the hiring fire station.
- All employees must obtain within one year of hire and maintain over the course of employment an active Airport Firefighter, Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator Aircraft Rescue Firefighter (ARFF), Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply, Fire Officer III, and Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certifications from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
- This position requires an active emergency medical technician (EMT) certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Health or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Additional Requirements:
- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Middletown Airbase. You must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
