Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You've come to the right place. YOUR IMPACT
You will collaborate with practice and proposal function leadership, proposal team members as well as other functions (e.g., consultants, operations colleagues) to shape our thinking on proposal best practices and operational efficiencies to drive continuous improvement.
Day-to-day you will work with other members of the proposal team, a multidisciplinary team of colleagues supporting the internal operations of the US Public Sector Practice, and various internal Client Service Teams (CSTs). You will play a pivotal role in driving impact for our US Public Sector clients.
Our US Public Sector practice provides management consulting services to clients across federal, state, and local governments, leveraging a unique client service model that combines expertise, capabilities, and talent from both the public and private sectors. This distinctive approach enables us to deliver exceptional value to our clients and their communities.
You'll be part of McKinsey's North America (NA) Public Sector Proposal Team based in the Washington DC office providing proposal operations and proposal development support. The NA Proposal Team is part of several firm organizations and networks, including McKinsey's global proposal services function, which represents a large network of enthusiastic proposal professionals that support different regions and sectors across the globe.
Specifically, you will provide:
Proposal team operations support: You will support the new opportunity registration process by verifying intake sheets / solicitation document data and inputting proposal details into our Salesforce tracker. You will provide end-to-end ownership / management of Salesforce proposal data across NA Public Sector (e.g., collecting and inputting updates, quality control). You will assist with management of NA Proposal Team's shared email inbox (e.g., responding to internal requests and questions and escalating when appropriate).
Proposal management support: You will provide end to end and/or on-demand support to Requests for Information (RFIs) and select proposals (e.g., setting up proposal development materials, responding to knowledge management queries from internal teams, preparing proposal outlines and compliance matrices, performing desktop publishing tasks, coordinating physical proposal submissions). You will build knowledge on public sector proposal management processes / best practices and knowledge of procurement rules across sectors and clients and take on increasingly complex tasks.
Reporting support: You will assist with various reporting needs, including ownership of weekly leadership report and other regular / ad hoc proposal data reporting to ensure actionable insights are shared with NA Public Sector practice leadership and global proposal team stakeholders.
Knowledge Management support: You will assist in updating and maintaining the knowledge repository including archived materials (e.g., past performance, resumes, proposals), best practices (e.g., playbooks, trainings), and off the shelf content (e.g., boilerplate, standard RFP responses).
Firm building support: You will seek opportunities to bring the best of the firm's broader capabilities and expertise into public sector proposals. You will contribute to positive team dynamics by supporting other team members and celebrating success stories. You will participate in local office and global practice initiatives; work to build and strengthen the firm communities you are part of. You will adhere to relevant procedures (e.g., file structure, archive, backup) for all proposal materials and processes.
YOUR GROWTH
You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
When you join us, you will have:

  • Global community: With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm's diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
