The Labor, Utility A position is a foundational role within the construction industry, focused on supporting various construction activities through manual labor and utility tasks. The primary objective is to assist skilled tradespeople and operators by preparing and maintaining the worksite, handling materials, and ensuring tools and equipment are ready and safe for use. This role contributes directly to the efficiency and safety of construction projects by performing essential groundwork and utility-related duties. Ultimately, the Labor, Utility A helps facilitate smooth project progression by providing reliable and consistent support on-site.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and willingness to adhere to safety protocols.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality to maintain consistent workflow on the job site.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a construction labor or utility role.
  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools used in construction.
  • Completion of OSHA 10-hour or similar safety training.
  • Basic knowledge of utility installation processes such as water, sewer, or electrical systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cleanup of construction sites, including removing debris and hazardous materials.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials and equipment to designated areas on the site.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision to support construction activities.
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and assist with utility installations such as water, sewer, and electrical lines.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Support skilled tradespeople by holding materials, mixing concrete, and performing other labor-intensive tasks as needed.
  • Maintain tools and equipment by cleaning and performing routine inspections to ensure functionality.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily tasks and report any issues.
