| Job Summary |
The Visitor Services and security staff are the first point of contact many guests, artists, and donors have with the museum. They serve as ambassadors representing the Museum, and welcoming the public during open hours and select events and programming. Visitor Services and Security staff perform a variety of functions including greeting and checking-in guests, providing information about and promoting museum membership, and informing visitors of current and upcoming exhibitions, programs, and events. They also assist with tasks related to the opening and closing of the building and setting up/striking the space before and after events.
The Crow Museum of Asian Art of the University of Texas at Dallas inspires and promotes learning and dialogue about the arts and cultures of Asia through our exhibitions, the research and preservation of our collections, artistic and educational programming, and visitor experience and engagement. The Visitor Experience and Security Representative is empowered to enhance the guest experience with the museum through friendly, mindful interactions while safeguarding artwork and ensuring museum policies are followed. Museum public hours of operation are Tuesday-Sunday, 11:00-5:00. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings & weekends required. |
| Minimum Education and Experience |
High school graduate or equivalent. A minimum of six months of office and/or customer service experience. |

Preferred Experience
- Experience in customer service, reception, non-profit, security, or related field.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
- A love and appreciation of the arts and an incredible curiosity about humanity and the objects left as our history.
- Ability and willingness to learn about artwork in the galleries and communicate this information with visitors.
- Outgoing personality, be comfortable meeting and engaging with new people, and demonstrate exemplary communication skills.
- Ability to actively address difficult situations in a compassionate and friendly manner.
- Candidate should also have high professional integrity: reliable, flexible, excellent work ethic.
- Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome visitors with a friendly introduction to the museum and provide an orientation of the galleries.
- Ensure safety and security of guests, artwork and gallery spaces by informing guests of museum policies and enforcing them.
- Monitor museum security cameras and security system, troubleshoot alarms, secure gallery and museum spaces (upon certification provided by the museum).
- Enthusiastically inform guests on museum programming, as well as current programs throughout UT Dallas.
- Answer the main phone line, field questions, and forward calls to the appropriate staff members.
- Provide light administrative assistance, solicit memberships, promote programs, stock brochures and maintain gallery interpretives.
- Provide a greater understanding of the collection and exhibitions for visitors through various educational tools. (Exhibition and general Art and Art History training will be provided).
- Assist and accommodate museum guests with special needs, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Work with donors, lenders, vendors, other museum professionals, the public and co-workers with integrity, professionalism and tact.
- Maintain a through knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment including the telephone, computer, copier, printer, etc.
- Perform tasks on online platforms and applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, database systems.
- Observe surrounding gallery spaces and works on display for safety concerns or damage and report to supervisor.
- Set-up and break down supplies, tables, chairs, audio equipment, etc. for events and programs.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.

| Physical Demands and Working Conditions |
This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time on hard floors, bend down and move between and within galleries. Reasonable accommodations will be given for accessibility purposes. Light-Moderate lifting of no more than 40 pounds required. |
