Job Summary

This position will support the business practices, processes, and administrative duties related to IT Implementations and IT Facilities. This incumbent may develop solutions which involve process design and policy or procedural changes for the team; may create specifications for processes and/or systems to meet requirements for the department and staff; may validate requirements against needs; and may develop training materials related to IT Facilities and IT Implementations for project implementation and/or business operational needs.

The incumbent independently performs a full range of responsibilities within the function as an experienced professional; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems and/or issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. Incumbent applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define complex scopes and objectives based on advanced knowledge of IT Implementations and IT Facilities business practices, processes, and systems along with industry standards to meet end-user needs related to construction projects and/or business operations. Works at a high technical level throughout various phases of projects, and project and department requests in support of the IT Implementations team.

The incumbent assesses existing data, applications, infrastructure, documentation, workflows, budget documentation, training and development documentation and technology to analyze functionality, efficiency, and productivity, and then may assist IT Implementations with design, development, and implementation solutions as part of a business need for a remodel and/or new construction project, of the day-to-day needs of the department to align business requirements. The incumbent must have an equal mix of technical knowledge and business acumen. Incumbent must have the ability to identify both business and technical situations, evaluate the needs, and identify potential solutions. This business analyst is responsible for departmental process planning, project intake requests, project logs and budget/invoice documentation, procurement and travel submissions, work force management oversight, scheduling and drafting detailed department requests, and onboarding documentation, and then be able to take the information gathered and export the information to create metrics, dashboards, and other analytical documents to assist with reporting to IT Infrastructure leadership. Incumbent may also work in conjunction with the IT Facilities project managers to assist with project support, such as scheduling, calendaring, requisition submissions, work force management tracking, invoice memos, and budget documentation.

In addition, the Business Systems Analyst acts as a liaison between IT Implementations, IT Facilities, IT Infrastructure, IT Business Operations and other UCDH departments and technical teams. This role is critical to identifying and driving improvements and efficiency initiatives as it relates to IT's support of construction projects and business operations, fostering both intra- and inter-team communication and cooperation.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent experience and/or training
  • 3 or more years of experience as a business or systems analyst supporting or leading large-scale IT initiatives and/or projects
  • 3 or more years of experience with process and systems analysis
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills
  • Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation and standards
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in the following software: Microsoft Excel, Word, Power BI, and Smartsheet
  • Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process design, modification and implementation
  • Advanced knowledge relating to the design of processes and metrics software
  • Advanced knowledge in related areas of IT, healthcare, and/or business
  • Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree or experience in computer science, business administration or related discipline with an information technology focus.
  • 5 or more years of experience with technical and process development and creation of business/technical documentation
  • 5 or more years of systems analyst/project methodologies and practices, including traditional Waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, etc.
  • Experience with developing dashboards, project logs, procurement tracking graphs/diagrams and other business documentation to assist with department overview for IT and financial leadership
  • Demonstrated skills needed to synthesize information into succint, concise and logical summaries and reports
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) methodologies; demonstrated testing and test planning skills

UC Davis Health IT Facilities and IT Infrastructure teams participates in planning, budgeting and implementation activities which provide IT hardware and software from design to procurement and installation, budget/funding for hardware and software, and ancillary systems for departmental, construction, planning, and other projects across the UCD Health system.

To support the IT Implementations team regarding project work, as well as meeting the standard business needs of this department for budgeting, procurement, project intake/triage requirements, managing overall project log, submitting requisitions, tracking invoice memos, maintaining cashflows/area forms for projects and for the department, as well as supporting the overall business needs of the team.
