Regulatory Nurse Consultant South Dakota Legacy Healthcare has an opportunity for a Regulatory Nurse Consultant in the State of South Dakota. This is a regional role and requires 75% extensive travel throughout the state of South Dakota. Position Summary The Regulatory Nurse Consultant is responsible for supporting and promoting regulatory compliance across all company facilities in the State of South Dakota. This role collaborates closely with facility leadership to ensure compliance with State and Federal long-term care regulations, improve survey outcomes, provide regulatory education, policy and procedure development and implementation and support quality care initiatives. The Regulatory Nurse Consultant provides onsite regulatory support to facilities during survey activity, as needed, across the division to ensure timely response and compliance assistance. Qualifications/Skills
Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of South Dakota Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a long-term care setting; five (5) years of experience as a Director of Nursing or Regional Nurse Consultant preferred Experience applying State and Federal long-term care regulations Knowledge of the long-term care survey process Deep understanding of healthcare legislation, adverse event regulations, and critical thinking. Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills Ability to educate and mentor clinical and administrative staff Proficient in regulatory documentation review and compliance monitoring 75% extensive travel throughout the state of South Dakota
Key Responsibilities
Serves as a liaison between company facilities and State and Federal government agencies regarding regulatory compliance, surveys, investigations, and corrective action activities. Assists facilities with developing, reviewing, and/or writing Plans of Correction (POCs) to address regulatory deficiencies and ensure ongoing compliance with State and Federal requirements. Serves as backup support for Regional Nurse Consultants as needed to ensure continuity of clinical and regulatory operations across facilities. Plans, coordinates, and schedules mock surveys for all facilities. Provides onsite follow-up visits to validate completion of mock survey action plans, monitor corrective measures, and ensure sustained regulatory compliance. Develops, implements, and reviews facility action plans to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance with State and Federal long-term care requirements, ensuring identified deficiencies are corrected in a timely and effective manner. Tracks, monitors, and analyzes annual and complaint surveys across all facilities to identify trends, ensure timely response to deficiencies, and support ongoing regulatory compliance and performance improvement efforts. Assists with reportable event decision-making and directs appropriate actions required to address and correct identified areas of non-compliance in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
