Full-Time 80 hours per pay period | Chef Manager

Schedule:

Positions available include working every other weekend and every other holiday

Available Shifts:

  1. 80 hours per two-week pay period
  2. Potential for variable start times as needed

Experience Required:

  1. Requirement of a minimum of 1-3 years of professional culinary experience - assisted living dining, high-end hospitality, or open-kitchen concepts.
  2. Previous leadership experience working in high-pressure environments while maintaining quality and presentation.

Preferred Education:

  1. Culinary degree, certification, or formal culinary training

The Difference You'll Make

  1. Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff management.
  2. Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes and standards for quality and presentation.
  3. Participate in menu planning, including seasonal changes and special events.
  4. Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
  5. Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and support to ensure efficient workflow.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in compliance with health regulations.
  7. Collaborate with catering teams for special events, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality meals.
  8. Handle food safely and adhere to proper food handling procedures.

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  1. Culinary degree or certification (preferred but not required with equivalent experience).
  2. Background in nutrition or specialized diets (mechanical, pureed, low-sodium, diabetic diets etc.).

Helpful but not Required:

  1. Training or coursework related to nutrition, food safety, or therapeutic diets
  2. Knowledge of modified and specialized diets (mechanical soft, pureed, low sodium, diabetic, etc.)

Experience Required:

  1. 1-3 years of professional cooking or food service experience
  2. Previous leadership experience in senior living, healthcare dining, hospitality, or high-volume food service environments
  3. Experience working in fast-paced kitchen environments while maintaining food quality, safety, and presentation standards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Strong knowledge of food service management principles, including inventory control and menu planning.
  2. Excellent skills in food handling and preparation techniques.
  3. Ability to supervise and motivate kitchen staff effectively.
  4. Creative mindset with a passion for culinary arts and catering services.
  5. Strong communication skills to facilitate teamwork within the kitchen environment.
  6. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to deta
  7. Ability to read English and follow dietary cards, menus and production sheets.
  8. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  9. Strong understanding of food safety protocols and kitchen sanitation.
  10. Exceptional cooking skills with an ability to execute high-quality meals consistently.
  11. Ability to plan, prep, and execute multiple meals daily without compromising quality.
  12. Capable of adjusting menus based on ingredient availability and client preferences.
  13. Keeps a well-maintained, organized, and hygienic workspace at all times.
  14. Can work independently, meet deadlines, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  15. When working with support staff, must be able to delegate effectively while maintaining a positive team dynamic by working along with the nursing staff.
  16. Willingness to adjust to flexible hours based on client needs.
