About the Role

The Data Financial Reporting Analyst will be assigned to the Government Programs Finance department and will be responsible for managing data that supports revenue and accounts receivable balances. The Data Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for providing crucial support to the Finance team in various areas of assigned specialization. The position will perform very complex and higher-level financial analysis, conduct accurate and timely analysis using a wide variety of sources and meet with Senior Managers and Directors in other departments. Role, tasks and responsibilities will vary depending upon the assigned role. Build models, managed datasets to inform operational, financial, and strategic decisions. The responsibilities will be dependent on the specific tasks assigned to the individual. This position is accountable for very complex analysis, reporting and/or accounting activities. Information generated by the Data Financial Reporting Analyst is submitted to management and leadership teams in Government Programs Division.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver accurate variance reports of various financial activities and demonstrate expert skills around analyzing and interpreting financials using statistical, financial, and operational data.

  • Explain and correct data variances and fluctuations.

  • Highlight issues and offer solutions to routine problems.

  • Prepare and review ad hoc analysis and benchmarking for assigned divisions or companies including analyzing financial and member data as well as compiling reports, graphs and presentations; reports must be prepared with a high level of responsiveness to customer needs requiring the quick turnaround of available data (This may include: providing data and analyses for different projects or initiatives across the organization).

  • Lead complex analysis and detailed variances driving changes in accounts receivable

  • Serves as a lead to the junior analysts and ensure the timely and accurate processing of monthly activities (This may include accounting journal entries for the financial close and the preparation of related general ledger account analyses, variance analysis of monthly results vs. budgets and forecasts).

  • Support reporting of DMHAS requirements driving Medicaid revenue.

  • Responsible for least 2-4 special projects involving program enhancements, Audit support, cash flow analysis or any business initiative as assigned by leadership.

  • Verify certain the General Ledger balances to ensure complete, accurate and efficient financial reporting.

  • Update quarterly reported results vs. projections and variation analysis which may include analysis of rate and volume variances.

What You Bring

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • Master's degree in business administration, accounting or finance a plus.

  • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience with general accounting, financial analysis, financial modeling, budgeting and related functions preferably in the health insurance industry.

  • Exceptional Excel skills required.

  • SAS, SQL programming required.

  • Prior experience with Medicaid and Medicare data is preferred

Knowledge:

  • Intermediate or Advanced knowledge of modeling, managing large datasets and monitoring state and federal levels.

  • Programming skills to create new code and modify existing code to compare and manage datasets.

  • Building and sustaining positive relationships.

  • Anticipating the needs of the businesses they support.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of financial analysis to review, interpret, and translate financial and managerial reports to support the business in making decisions.

  • Requires general knowledge of accounting principles and methods.

  • Proven track record of managing large and intermediate datasets.

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles to maintain general ledger (e.g., double entry system, processing of transactions, preparation of schedules, reports, documentation, etc.).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to write new SAS / SQL programs.

  • Ability to read, understand and modify existing SAS / SQL programs, as needed.

  • Proven ability to developrelationships with internal customers, peers to guide and assist as needed.

  • Experience performing financial and ad hoc analyses using advanced Excel functionality. Macros/VBA a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, business acumen and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional communications skills (written and oral).

  • Desire for ownership and ability to operate in fast-paced environment and adopt to changing needs and responsibilities.

Salary Range:

$97,800 - $133,455

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
