Position Highlights

The Department of Economics at the University of Arizona seeks applicants for an Adjunct Lecturer position beginning Fall 2026, with the possibility of renewal depending on departmental needs and performance. The successful candidate will teach up to two undergraduate courses per semester in economics.

The primary instructional need for this position is teaching large-format introductory economics courses, particularly ECON 200: Basic Economic Issues, the department's large-enrollment principles course that introduces students to foundational concepts such as opportunity cost, supply and demand, market behavior, and macroeconomic indicators. The lecturer may also teach other undergraduate economics courses depending on departmental needs and the candidate's expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach up to two undergraduate economics courses per
    semester
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in both
    large-format and standard classroom settings
  • Develop and maintain course materials consistent with
    departmental learning objectives
  • Hold office hours and support student learning outside
    of class
  • Coordinate with the department on course delivery,
    assessment, and curriculum alignment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Economics or a closely related field
    before the start date
  • Experience teaching undergraduate economics courses.
Preferred Qualifications

  • ABD or PhD in Economics preferred
  • Experience teaching large-enrollment undergraduate courses, particularly principles of economics
  • Evidence of effective teaching and student engagement
  • Experience teaching a range of undergraduate economic courses as needed by the department.
