Coordinator, Student Engagement and Support - Central Campus
FUNCTION: The function of the Coordinator, Student Engagement and Support, is to enhance the overall educational and social experiences of students through social, multicultural, intellectual, recreational, community service, and campus governance opportunities delivered via resources, programming, and events.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise, coordinate, assess, and manage the daily operations of Student Engagement and Support to ensure consistent services and programs that meet established key performance measures.
- Coordinate the development, recruitment, and implementation of year round student leadership programming.
- Coordinate the enhancement and growth of student organizations through orientations, leadership training, fiscal education, outreach, and sustained engagement with advisors, student leaders, and the college community.
- Supervise all student organization operations by upholding institutional standards, state and local guidelines, managing processes, and driving leadership development initiatives.
- Oversee the creation and onboarding of new student organizations by ensuring adherence to institutional guidelines, conducting compliance reviews, and guiding continuity planning.
- Oversee the financial management of Student Organization funds by facilitating required training for organization leaders and advisors each semester, ensuring P card compliance, and staying current with all laws and guidelines governing state funds and organizational fundraising.
- Lead and advise the Student Government Association as its primary advisor.
- Lead and deliver training and informational sessions that promote Student Engagement and Support services and programs to students and the campus community.
- Coordinate programming and activities in partnership with other departments to deliver student focused initiatives that support student success and align with departmental and college goals.
- Manage and maintain multiple budgets, payroll functions, office schedules, and monthly and annual reports for Student Engagement and Student Support services.
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of campus recreation and sports programs.
Additional Job Functions:
- Manage the interviewing, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff through the performance management system.
- Represent SJC in collaborations with external educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations, and serve as a department liaison on campus and college committees as requested.
- Collaborate with the Student Support Services leadership team to identify unit needs and execute services that support departmental goals.
- Support the training, rollout, and ongoing use of technologies that support departmental operations and student services.
- Travel with SGA officers and student leaders to conferences and developmental opportunities, as applicable.

- Must possess the ability to work well with students, student groups, and college faculty and staff within a college community
- Excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
- Must possess computer literacy and good organizational skills
- Must embrace a philosophy of servant leadership and foster a positive working environment
- Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously and to develop and complete new projects and programs with little supervision
- Able to work with a population of students, alumni, and community members
- Possess the ability to effectively supervise, train, and develop staff
- Possess skills to maintain a fair and decisive leadership style with the ability to make independent judgments
- Ability to analyze and evaluate outcomes and effectiveness of projects/programs
- Ability to interpret and enforce college policy
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university required.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of one-year successful professional experience in one or more areas: planning and implementing events and activities, coordinating support services, and/or organizing and delivering programming or training for groups.
- Minimum of one year of experience managing multiple budgets.
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
Preferred Experience:
- At least one year of experience supervising professional staff.
