CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Principal ITS Designer to join our Traffic & ITS Team in Miami, FL. This is your opportunity to lead complex ITS design efforts that power safer corridors and more efficient networks-while collaborating across disciplines and mentoring the next generation of designers to bring transformative transportation solutions to life.



What You'll Do:

    Lead the research, preparation, and production of ITS and traffic design drawings using tools such as REVIT, MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads, and related transportation design software, supporting advanced electronic plan development and digital delivery workflows
  • Collaborate with traffic engineers, planners, and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated ITS solutions across various projects that meet project, client, and agency requirements
  • Serve as a technical authority for ITS and signalization design, guiding the development of lighting geometry, profiles, cross-sections, typical sections, signing and pavement marking plans, and construction documentation
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior designers on project drawing production, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards across all deliverables
  • Examine complex contract documents and drawings for errors, revising as needed to align with contract specifications and maintain accuracy, compliance, and high QA/QC standards
  • Support project delivery through constructability reviews, quantity development, technical reporting, cost estimating, and production scheduling for ITS and traffic initiatives
  • Conduct project review meetings and prepare project "As-Builts" documentation
  • Advance production standards and contribute to continuous improvement efforts aligned with evolving DOT and municipal design requirements


What You Bring:

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or related technical field required
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in transportation or ITS related design and document production required
  • Proficiency in discipline-based software (REVIT, MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Expert working knowledge of engineering discipline with strong expertise in design drawing layout
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative work ethic and strong problem-solving capabilities

Salary Range:

$55.00 - $75.00

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
