Job Description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components in order to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is our ability to produce highly tailored, complex composite components. With our unique blend of products - including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through thickness reinforcement technologies, to name a few - AEC is able to produce composite components and products which meet performance and cost specifications often beyond the reach of metallic or conventional laminated composites.



The Manufacturing Engineer designs and plans layout for such activities as machining/composite materials layout and assembly. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Plans for the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

  • Works under only general direction, independently determines and develops approach to solutions
  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field
  • General knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
  • Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects
  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts
  • Represents the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects

  • BS in designated Engineering or related field or equivalent years of experience




Preferred Additional Skills:




  • DMAIC, DFSS, LEAN, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Mistake Proofing, DOE, DFx
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action / Nonconformance Disposition (MRB)
  • Production and Assembly Environment (Composite Lay Up, Cure, Paint, and NDI)
  • Machine shop environment (Composite Machining) as a manufacturing engineer
  • New Product Development / New Business Development
  • Shop Planning Generation (MS Word Products, etc)
  • Working in/Leading a multi-disciplined team
  • GD&T
  • CATIA V5
  • Green Belt Certified a plus
  • Experience in Windchill, and SAP a plus
  • Aerospace manufacturing a plus
