Position Summary

This key individual contributor will be responsible for coordinating, directing, and generating new business opportunities for technologies across all Parker divisions within the land-based defense business. Works with current and potential customers, Paker groups, and Parker divisions to promote utilization of new technologies as well as current technologies, products, and services to meet customer needs and to determine how the company's capabilities can be leveraged to grow the land-based defense market.

The Business Development Manager will focus on potential new business and technologies that will assist the defense market facing team in meeting and exceeding growth objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Research and document new technologies which may assist in growth of the defense market. Develop business models for the technologies which include projected sales, potential market penetration, risk analysis, and business feasibility.
  • Deliverables for the position include but are not limited to:
    • Identification and launch of Innovative Product opportunities.
    • Identification of new business and technologies for the defense market.
  • Defense market research and development working with all Parker sales teams, groups and divisions.
  • Conducts and documents competitive research, paradigm shifting technologies, new market trends and customer requirements for electronics, systems engineering and value-added services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers to gain knowledge of future markets and customer needs.
  • Initiate new product and technology benchmarking activities which include testing, component analysis, cost analysis, design comparisons, market channel analysis, risk analysis, etc.
  • Produce marketing analysis and reports / presentations to division and group management as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience at a Parker division, military acquisition, or extensive defense market business development required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical / engineering discipline
    • Advanced degree in business is preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • US military experience preferred but not required
  • Program management experience from business model development through design and implementation processes.
  • Innovative and creative background and capabilities.
  • Premier customer service mentality and proven track record.
  • Ability to develop solutions to customer problems and translate the solutions into business development strategies and sales.
  • Must be able to travel nationally and internationally as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be ITAR Eligible
