Specialist, Engineering Services - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Specialist in Engineering Services at JLL, you will be an essential part of our facilities team, performing a variety of routine and semi-skilled maintenance tasks that keep our client's property and equipment operating smoothly and safely. This hands-on role requires technical versatility and attention to detail as you maintain building systems, respond to service requests, and ensure a safe, functional environment for building occupants. Your work directly contributes to JLL's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction by proactively addressing maintenance needs and preventing equipment downtime. By providing reliable, high-quality maintenance services across multiple disciplines, you will help create comfortable, well-maintained spaces that support our clients' business operations and enhance the occupant experience.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Perform routine plumbing repairs including repairing faucets, unplugging toilets and drains, and addressing minor plumbing issues throughout assigned areas
  • Complete electrical-related repairs such as replacing electrical receptacles, light bulbs, LED bulbs, and fluorescent lights to maintain proper lighting and functionality
  • Execute routine carpentry work including ceiling tile replacement, installing door stops, adjustable shelving, and hanging multiple items such as whiteboards and baskets
  • Assist HVAC technicians with cleaning vents and registers, changing filters, and performing other work under direct supervision of HVAC tech or manager
  • Communicate effectively with staff, employees, and occupants to coordinate work, make repairs, and manage supplies while documenting time and materials used on work orders
  • Diagnose problems and develop solutions for minor repairs throughout the facility while inspecting work-related conditions for compliance with operating and safety standards
  • Clean and maintain work areas and equipment including breakrooms, work sites, shops, and personal tools while using safe work practices to move furniture, equipment, and supplies

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform routine plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs in a commercial facility environment
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions while documenting work performed accurately
  • Physical capability to work in a variety of conditions including small or cramped areas and perform work requiring ladders or personnel lifts
  • Ability to distinguish colors to repair electrical switches and outlets safely
  • Proficiency using equipment and tools such as hammers, drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, and other tools commonly used in facilities maintenance
  • Successful completion of background investigation and drug screening (required condition of employment)
  • COVID vaccination status verification (required condition of employment)

Physical Requirements:This position requires the ability to work in a variety of conditions including small or cramped areas, perform work requiring ladders or personnel lifts, and safely move objects such as furniture, equipment, and supplies using proper work practices. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings for maintenance and repair work
  • Experience working with JLL, City of Chicago, Client Health and Safety policies/procedures, and OSHA safety procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to diagnose issues and develop effective solutions independently
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with diverse stakeholders including staff, employees, and building occupants
  • Willingness and availability to participate in on-call rotation with the team based on client's operational hours
  • Experience maintaining inventory and ensuring correct use of basic tools and equipment
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety

Location: Onsite Chicago

Salary: $27,58 per hour

Estimated compensation for this position:

57,366.00 - 57,366.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
