Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Mechanical Engineering working with Professor H.S. Udaykumar on research related to high-speed multi-material flows and machine learning/AI for systems design. Conduct research using high-fidelity computer simulations of fluid and solid mechanics including reactive mechanics and materials under extreme conditions, multi-scale modeling, machine learning and verification and validation.

The research involves interactions with other university groups across the US and liaisons will be established with DoE and DoD labs.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Experiments, Simulation, Modeling or Theoretical Investigation:

* Identify and define problems, solutions to which can be approached through a scientific research process. This person will be responsible for research related to application of high-order numerical schemes to model high-speed material flow problems.

* Provide data analysis and interpretation

* Work independently on basic research tasks with oversight by Faculty or Principal Investigator (PI).

* Provide mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students working on the project.

* Contribute to documentation of equipment and procedures.

* Dissemination of research results

* Prepare research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books, grants and other media.

* Present results in in departmental seminars and professional meetings.

Education Requirement:

A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Required Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Graduate research experience in high-speed flows and numerical techniques

Demonstrated experience computational modeling

Demonstrated strong analytical and data analysis skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

Working knowledge of advanced numerical modeling in computer codes designed for high-performance computing
