Founded in 1988, Lone Star College-Tomball is the third oldest college in the LSC system. LSC-Tomball offers a wide range of academic and workforce programs and is a leading college in the health sciences. LSC-Tomball is the founding college of the lifePATH program, a four-year degree for adults with cognitive disabilities. Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Director of Student Success and Completion provides leadership in the daily and long-term operation, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive Student Success model that supports students from entry through completion. This role oversees key functional areas including Advising, Call Center, Admissions, and Outreach to ensure a seamless, student-centered experience across the student life cycle. The Director develops and implements strategies, policies, and practices that promote enrollment, persistence, and completion, and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, system leaders, and community partners to align services with institutional priorities and student success goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for planning and oversight of key functions within the area of Student Success and Completion, including Advising, Call Center, Admissions, Records, and Outreach. Promotes and ensures collaboration between areas to provide a cohesive and consistent student experience
  2. Manages, monitors, and administers area budgets. Implements budget controls and performs needs assessments for development of annual budgeting recommendations
  3. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates department employees at various levels. Provides professional development opportunities for continued success and growth. Oversees the management of administrative processes (i.e., payroll, personnel, purchasing, etc.)
  4. Develops, implements, and evaluates strategies, programs, and services that support student recruitment, onboarding, and advising, including successfully implementing a case-management approach as part of enrollment, persistence, and completion
  5. Creates, analyzes, and utilizes a variety of detailed reports. Uses data-driven information to provide informed updates to Administration and to support continuous improvement efforts related to enrollment, persistence, and completion
  6. Analyzes, interprets, and implements policies and practices as they relate to compliance and operational effectiveness. Ensures compliance with all applicable internal and external rules, regulations, and requirements, and with LSC policies and procedures
  7. Maintains communication and collaboration with academic departments, system offices, and external partners to support enrollment strategies, student progression, and completion pathways
  8. Serves on and attends internal and external meetings, committees, workshops, and conferences as required
  9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise a high degree of judgment, with advanced organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, take initiative, and understand all relevant policies and procedures
  • Possess strong multitasking abilities and maintain a positive attitude in a demanding work environment

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 3 years in a management-level position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree
Salary

Hiring salary range is $77,356- $88,960

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
