Position Summary
The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks to recruit an epidemiologist or biostatistician at the Assistant Professor level to support department-wide research efforts. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development and coordination of activities to support study design, data analysis, results dissemination, and grant preparation. They will report directly to the department's Vice Chair of Research and Innovation.

Responsibilities will include consultative services for faculty and learners; statistical analysis and support for individual research projects; planning and coordination of research training activities for learners (including research curriculum, project development, and presentation); contribution to grant development, including study design, statistical analysis sections and power calculations; research mentorship of residents and fellows; and strategic planning for new department-wide initiatives. As the unit expands, they may be additional responsibilities in the supervision of junior analysts and students.

Alongside these departmental roles, the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their own research portfolio either in the role of principal investigator or co-investigator supported by external sources. Given the rich research environment within the department, we envision ample opportunities for such engagement. For those already working in such capacities as part of ongoing research there is flexibility to continue in existing roles.

The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a national leader in translational, clinical, and population research.
