You'll care for facility linens and residents' personal clothing from collection and washing through folding, organizing, and returning items to their designated locations. Position Overview
As a Laundry Aide, you'll help ensure residents have clean, fresh clothing and linens while maintaining a safe, organized, and sanitary laundry environment. You'll sort, wash, dry, fold, organize, and distribute linens and residents' personal garments. You'll also help maintain accurate records of residents' clothing and belongings and assist with locating missing items when needed. This is an active position that requires attention to detail, organization, and respect for residents' privacy and personal belongings. Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Sort soiled linens and clothing according to type, fabric, color, and level of soiling
- Collect and process facility linens and residents' personal clothing
- Label residents' clothing and maintain accurate records of personal belongings
- Assist in locating missing clothing and personal articles
- Load washing machines and select appropriate wash cycles
- Add detergents, soaps, bleach, and other approved laundry products according to established procedures
- Transfer clean items to dryers and operate equipment safely
- Sort, fold, and prepare clean linens and clothing for distribution
- Deliver and distribute residents' personal garments to designated areas
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laundry area
- Remove lint, dust, and debris from laundry equipment as needed
- Follow proper infection control practices when handling and processing laundry
- Store cleaning compounds and hazardous substances safely and properly
- Participate in evaluations of new laundry products or methods when requested
- Protect resident privacy and maintain confidentiality while handling personal belongings
- Follow all applicable facility safety, compliance, and infection control policies
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous laundry, housekeeping, hospitality, healthcare, or related experience preferred, but not required
- Interest in laundry operations and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Respect for resident privacy, dignity, and rights
- This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
