Responsibilities & Expectations:

This position supports the rewinding process of electromechanical equipment. The trainee will assist experienced winders while learning to remove existing windings, inspect components, record basic data, and help with coil preparation, winding, and testing of standard equipment. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in rewinding various types of electromechanical equipment.
  • Help dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable equipment, including media blasting.
  • Support inspection of equipment for winding damage and signs of electrical malfunction.
  • Record basic data from original windings and equipment conditions under supervision.
  • Prepare reusable parts for rewinding and assist in inspecting components for damage.
  • Assist with coil preparation and winding processes.
  • Support testing of rewound equipment following established procedures and standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all safety guidelines.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Mechanical aptitude with an interest in learning motor rewinding or electrical repair.
  • Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to learn job-related tasks, safety procedures, and shop operations.
  • Ability to work with tools, machinery, and hoists under supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction.
  • Prior shop or mechanical experience is helpful but not required.
