REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Family Success Administration Division provides emergency assistance and case management services through four essential programs, including the Emergency Assistance Program, Financial Capability Program, and the Community Action Agency's Low-Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP) and Community Services Block Grant Program (CSBG). These programs work together to prevent the residents of Broward County from experiencing homelessness, evictions, foreclosures, loss of electric and water services and assist with tuition, financial management, employment, transportation, nutrition, and childcare. The Programs provide one-stop direct services in partnership with community-based providers assisting residents to achieve and maintain health, safety, and economic stability.
This is Grand Funded position.

General Description
  • Make a meaningful impact by helping Broward County residents navigate emergency situations, including potential loss of electricity and other essential utilities. As a key support to Case Managers and clinical staff, you'll contribute to efficient case processing and compassionate service delivery.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires two (2) years experience working in a social service agency, social service or community program, or community support group, related to social services, including work experience with school board, government, hospital, general office, including six (6) months of clerical experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License at time of appointment and must be able to obtain and maintain authorization to drive on County business.

Special Requirements
  • Position is located on site.

Preferences

  • Associates or higher related degree.
  • One (1) or more years' experience conducting intake interviews and assessments to determine eligibility for applicants for various benefits, including Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) benefits.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish, or English/Creole, or English/Portuguese

SCOPE OF WORK

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

  • Assist Caseworkers, Coordinators, and clinical staff with daily program participant-related activities.
  • Prepare and maintain case activity notes, monthly reports, and other case management documentation.
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files; conduct file reviews and participate in data collection efforts such as surveys and questionnaires.
  • Conduct assessments, and customer screenings to determine eligibility for agency services and various benefits.
  • Enter collected data into agency systems and ensure timely processing of required paperwork.
  • Review client files for completeness and prepare payment packets for supervisory approval.
  • Process emergency payments related to rent, utilities, and other critical services.
  • Conduct field visits as needed to support case management and client outreach.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support, including filing, scanning, front desk coverage, and responding to client and agency inquiries.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support efficient program operations.
