Privacy Specialist

The Opportunity:

Whether assessing privacy requests or advising on processes, our clients need someone who can help manage privacy security. That is why we need an experienced Privacy Specialist like you who can provide high-quality support.

As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical advisor to the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), helping conceptualize, create, and execute advanced government-funded research and development programs to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone. You'll work with world-class scientists and engineers to support the development of high-impact solutions to society's most challenging health problems.

You'll serve as a Privacy Specialist supporting clients in performing privacy assessments, applying privacy controls, and helping clients respond to privacy requests. Your attention to detail, flexibility, communication skills, understanding of the client's mission, and problem-solving will enable the mission's success.

What You'll Work On:

  • Collaborate with agency staff to develop and implement Privacy Threshold Analyses (PTAs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and Third-Party Website Privacy Assessments (TPWAs), ensuring compliance with departmental and federal privacy requirements.
  • Provide advice on completing PTAs, PIAs, and TPWAs, identify legal authorities and SORN requirements, and ensure accuracy and adequacy of privacy documentation before submission.
  • Maintain inventories of PTAs, PIAs, TPWAs, and SORNs while supporting compliance with privacy reporting requirements.
  • Support the creation and modification of SORNs, determine when changes are necessary, and coordinate submissions for Federal Register approval, maintaining a centralized repository.
  • Establish privacy controls for IT systems, evaluate IT investments for privacy risks, and verify that procurement and acquisition packages include appropriate privacy requirements.
  • Collaborate with system owners, security officers, and contracting officers to assess PII risks, review privacy-related policy changes, address vulnerabilities, and ensure privacy compliance.
  • Develop and establish protocols for responding to privacy incidents, prepare for potential breaches, and address vulnerabilities related to the unauthorized access of personally identifiable information (PII).

You Have:

  • Experience interpreting and applying federal privacy laws, regulations, and policies
  • Experience with privacy program management, risk assessment, incident response, and proper handling of PII
  • Experience evaluating agency IT investments for privacy risks to privacy requirements and associated privacy controls and costs
  • Experience compiling required privacy documentation and reviewing acquisition packages
  • Experience preparing guidance and instruction for privacy compliance procedures
  • Ability to effectively convey complex privacy concepts to various audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Bachelor's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
