TITLE: Risk Operations Specialist

LOCATION: Hybrid in Alsip, IL and Lombard, IL

COMP RANGE: $84,000 - $107,000

Griffith Foods is hiring a Risk Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day execution of Griffith Foods global risk management program, with an initial primary focus on claims administration and tactical risk processes for a global food ingredients manufacturing business.

You will learn and develop new capabilities in the risk management discipline with the opportunity to grow into a proven and trusted risk manager.

As a Risk Operations Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Administering global property, casualty, management liability & cyber claims; with a focus on timely claim reporting, and development of proactive action plans to support efficient resolution.

  • Coordinating first notice of loss (FNOL) with operating business units, insurers, brokers, and other internal/external stakeholders

  • Maintaining risk management systems, claim databases, schedules of insurance, and exposure data (e.g., property values, sales, volumes, payroll, vehicles, etc.) to support audits and renewals.

  • Supporting insurance policy administration (certificates of insurance, endorsements, renewal document organization) and responding to internal requests with appropriate controls.

  • Identifying loss trends and repeat loss drivers; identify risk improvement opportunities and support Risk Management, Operations, and site leadership in development and execution of risk improvement plans.

  • Developing and maintaining recurring reporting (claim counts, incurred losses, top drivers, aging, and deductible utilization) and ad hoc analyses to support decisions.

  • Supporting annual insurance renewals and carrier procurement processes through data preparation, loss runs, exposure validation, and market submissions.

  • Providing analytical support for premium allocation and total cost of risk (TCOR) analysis across operating business units/regions.

The Risk Operations Specialist position is well-suited for you if you have:

  • Understanding of manufacturing operations and site-level realities (equipment, facilities, logistics, and safety practices) to support effective claim investigation and loss prevention follow-up.

  • Ability to operate in a global, multi-site environment with diverse regulations and stakeholders, coordinating information across plants and regions.

  • Practical understanding of how insurance and risk costs affect financial outcomes (deductibles, retained losses, premium drivers) and how data supports operational improvements.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Insurance, or related field OR

  • Equivalent Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in corporate risk management, insurance, claims, or brokerage/TPA environment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple open items, maintain strong documentation, and communicate effectively with non-risk stakeholders

  • Willingness to work onsite in Alsip, IL and Lombard, IL 2 days per week

  • Candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

What will set you apart:

  • Advanced degree (MBA/MS) a plus; relevant risk/insurance/claims coursework or concentration preferred

  • Experience supporting insurance renewals, broker data requests, and insurer audits

  • Strong Excel/data skills; experience building simple dashboards and trend analyses

  • Comfort coordinating across multiple sites/regions; willingness to travel periodically to manufacturing locations

  • Experience with claims administration in a manufacturing, industrial, or consumer products setting strongly preferred

This role is affiliated to the ALSIP, IL and LOMBARD, IL locations, and candidates for this role need to reside within a commutable distance to both locations and will be required to come into that location. You may be asked to travel to other locations periodically for meetings.
