Moog's Space & Defense - Power & Data group is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineering Team Leadin Highland Heights, OH or Cleveland, OH.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer supports all products produced from design engineering through end-user support. The individual in this role performs various tasks for the Simplex and Complex cable production floors and the Transceiver production floor. These tasks are related to the manufacture, testing, and data collection of fiber cable and transceiver assemblies. In addition, the individual supports the mechanical design and documentation necessary to advance the production capability and throughput of our Operations Department. This position is key in the technical analysis (i.e., reliability, quality, and performance) of products in use by our Customers. This full-time, salaried position reports to the Operations Manager and work is performed onsite.

The person in this role will be responsible for one of the areas listed below. Additionally, this individual may also support areas outside of a primary area of responsibility.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer - Interconnects provides production support for the Simplex and Complex Fiber Cable floors.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer - Optoelectronics provides production support for the Transceiver floor.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer - Generalist provides additional interconnects and optoelectronics production and documentation support to each of the three floors.

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will:

Operational Support for Production Floors

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills in all fiber optic termination and transceiver processes, wire harness and transceiver design and assembly, and basic optical testing and inspection.
  • Provides hands-on training of technicians on new or updated processes, including generation of training materials.
  • Sources, maintains, and repairs production tools, equipment, and fixturing.
  • Performs process analysis to improve production throughput.
  • Performs failure analysis, which includes evaluation, repair, and retest of inventory fallout and customer RMAs.
  • Provides input for the workflow allocation of incoming sales orders.

Technical Documentation

  • Designs, creates, and manages CAD models and/or technical drawings for products and/or fixtures.
  • Creates, maintains, and manages process and operation layouts, detailed work instructions and build procedures, assembly aids, and fixture/tooling relevant to production processes.
  • Generates and releases part numbers and BOM's.

ERP System Management

  • Creates, improves, and manages build procedures and BOM requirements.
  • Performs data analysis and generates reports relevant to production processes and throughput.

Engineering Project Management

  • Budgets time, cost, and resources for projects aimed at process and/or product improvement.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental efforts and requirements for new product releases.
  • Oversees the introduction of new products (or components) to the production floor.

Sales Support

  • Creates and/or verifies customer-use CAD models, technical drawings, etc.
  • Provides input relating to manufacturability, lead times, and costs for products.
  • Provides quality and technical support as it relates to internal or external ECNs and CARs.

To be considered for the Manufacturing Process Engineer role, here's what you'll typically need to bring with you:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing and/or mechanical engineering experience or relevant experience.
  • 2 years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment or a combination of education and experience with proficiency in SolidWorks preferred.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design and test.
  • Familiarity with PCBs, electrical/optical connectors and contacts and military specifications.
  • Understanding of fiber-optic cable and transceiver products and processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 practices and documentation.
  • Proficient with common office productivity tools and equipment (i.e., Microsoft Suite).
  • Proficient in writing, verbally communicating, and presenting to various types of audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships while working with diverse groups in a collaborative manner.

Salary Range Transparency:

Cleveland, OH $70,000.00-$84,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
