As a Community Retail Pharmacist, you will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care while working collaboratively with patients, providers, and pharmacy team members. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying medication orders, overseeing prescription processing and dispensing accuracy, counseling patients on medication therapy, and supervising pharmacy support staff.

Location: Split shifts between Mercyhealth Mall and West Clinics - Janesville, WI

Shift: Day Shift Monday - Friday, rotating Saturdays

Schedule: Full time (40 hrs/week)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains professionalism and conducts self as a role model, serving as a resource for the other retail pharmacy partners.
  • Staff primarily as a retail pharmacist but may be required to work in other functions of the retail pharmacy operations in support of the department.
  • Is an expert retail pharmacist who relies on skills of comprehensive knowledge and experience.
  • Takes ownership of one long-term retail pharmacy project assuring that the information, data is carried through to all the retail pharmacies.
  • Maintains practice by ongoing professional literature review, continuing education and self-evaluation.
  • Maintaining patient medication profiles and ensuring accurate documentation within the pharmacy system.
  • Monitoring and improving medication dispensing processes to support quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Staying current on federal and state pharmacy regulations and maintaining all required competencies.
  • Leading and supporting a long-term project in partnership with retail pharmacy colleagues to standardize processes, share best practices, and improve operations across locations.
  • Participating in an after-hours call rotation as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy program
Licensed in the stateof practice

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer experience, including internet and email.
Strong accuracy skills
Excellent interpretive and analytical skills for pharmaceutical calculations for drug dosage, IV rates, etc.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Some independent judgment is required, but alternatives are limited by standard practices or procedures.

SUPERVISES

Indirectly supervises technicians. This position is involved in the recruitment and orientation process and provides performance feedback and input for performance evaluation purposes. May implement coaching, counseling, and corrective action when needed. Supervisory responsibilities are conducted in accordance with directives of management, the organization policies, and applicable laws.

PAY RANGE

The salary range represents the full compensation progression available over the anticipated lifetime of the position, based on experience, performance, and tenure.
