Job Overview

The Occupational Therapist II provide occupational therapy services including evaluation, treatment, follow up and documentation using general competencies for inpatients and/or outpatients referred to the OT department. Provides guidance for occupational therapy intern students and therapy aides/assistants with specific patients or tasks. Provides continuous consultation and education to families. The Occupational Therapist II successfully fulfills the requirements of a specified area or completes and maintains the Career Advancement Program (CAP), demonstrating both excellence in job performance and on-going contributions in service, education and research, and professional development and leadership.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of Occupational Therapy experience, along with expertise in assisting with feeding and swallowing challenges spanning from birth to 21 years of age. Experience in conducting feeding evaluations and treatments, including proficiency in bottle feeding, transitioning to solid foods, addressing challenges in solid food progression, and managing various feeding difficulties, is highly desirable. Additional experience with movement disorders and neurodevelopmental diagnoses (e.g. Cerebral Palsy, TBI) is also encouraged.

Children's Hospital Colorado's Occupational Therapy Team believes in providing high-level, specialized, individualized care to our patients and families. Preceptorship and mentorship is available to all team members.

Support from our Clinical Practice Specialist and senior team members is provided as part of new hire onboarding. Access to our extensive internal library of clinical resources, internal team training days, and continuing education support is also provided.

Job Status: 0.75 FTE; 30 hours/week - eligible for benefits
Shift: M-F, days, 30 hrs may be worked in 3 x 10hr days between hours of 7a-6p

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools, and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
2. Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames.
3. Independently evaluates children from birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
4. Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets
5. Demonstrates professional behaviors; adheres to hospital and departmental policies and promotes personal and departmental development through participation in development activities to improve the patient experience and quality goals of the department and hospital. Provides consultation and education to families.
6. Treat children with a variety of diagnoses, and in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Clinical Practice Specialist and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • EDUCATION -Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or related field of study. Continued education/Professional education in the clinical areas of feeding, swallowing, and neurodevelopmental diagnoses/movement disorders.
  • EXPERIENCE - Two years of professional experience as an occupational therapist required. Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR, maintained criteria for Occupational Therapist II and obtained requirements listed in the Career Advancement Program guidelines.
  • LICENSURE - Colorado State Registration for Occupational Therapy - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy; Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $84,558.69 to $126,838.03
