Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates basic clinical competency in vascular, non-vascular, and/or neurointerventional procedures across all locations and patient populations. Selectsappropriate technicalfactors based on individual patient needs anddemonstratesthe knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. Administers contrast mediain accordance withfacility policies. Participates in and/or performs procedure-related patient care activities and physiologic monitoring under the direction of a physician. Utilizes sterile technique and functions as either a scrub or circulating technologist, as needed.
Participatesin departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives designed to enhance workflows, patient experience, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Activelyparticipatesin student and employee training and educational activities.
Maintains a clean, safe, and prepared work environment, including cleaning and preparing patient rooms. Maintains supplies and inventory within the assigned area.
Verifies physician orders, patient preparation, and the reason for the examination to ensure theappropriate scanningprotocol is selected.Communicateseffectively with patients to obtain medical histories, answer questions, and explain procedures to promote patient understanding and comfort. Provides patient education and support, including preparing patients for procedures and addressing physical and psychological needs. Escalates concerns throughappropriate channelswhen necessary.
Prioritizes patient flow and coordinates care through consistent and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Documents patient care activities in electronic health record systems anddistributesfinal images to the PACS systemin a timely mannerfor interpretation.
Consistently acts and communicates professionally, embodying the organization's SPIRIT values and fostering a respectful and supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues. Adheres to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.
Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards whilemaintainingcompliance with federal, state, professional, and accreditation requirements.
Follows direction from leadership, ensuring adherence toestablishedprotocols, maintaining patient flow, and seeking clarification when necessary.
Certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Councilfor Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC)required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interventional radiology environment, such as cardiac catheterization, vascular interventional, or neurointerventional services,required.
Licenses and Certifications
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)requiredupon hire. Advanced certification in Cardiovascular Interventional (CV), Cardiac Interventional (CI), or Vascular Interventional (VI) Radiography isrequiredfor individuals hired on or after July 1, 2017.
ARRT Radiography Certification [ARRT(R)] and Computed Tomography Certification [ARRT(CT)], or Computed Tomography Certification through the Nuclear MedicineTechnology CertificationBoard (NMTCB), preferred.
