Overview

The Sr. Specialist will report to the Government and Community Affairs Director and will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of Con Edisons Government and Community Affairs team. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational and technical skills, with a passion for growing and supporting a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Director of Government and Community Affairs, serve as liaison with Government and Community Affairs staff regarding employee engagement, planning, and internal initiatives.
  • Oversee daily operations of the division including assisting with the preparation and dissemination of organization-specific communications and large-scale team events.
  • Support Government and Community Affairs teams with documentation, tracking and execution of long-term goals.
  • Support with departmental budgeting and CEIPAC tracking and engagement.
  • Oversee Strategic Partnership event staffing.
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Director of Government and Community Affairs.
  • Serve as emergency responder and participate in all aspects of Corporate Affairs responsibilities during emergencies and assist in preparation of emergency preparedness information.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in History, Government Affairs or other relevant and 3 Years' experience or
  • Master's Degree MPA or other relevant and 2 Years' experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, required.
  • Must demonstrate ability to accept challenges and solve problems, required.
  • Must exercise good judgment and render sound decisions, required.
  • Must demonstrate a positive work ethic in support of the Companys Corporate Values and Missions, required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, required.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments, required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with company employees, required.
  • Experience in database management preferred
  • Interest in corporate philanthropy, the energy sector, and environmental programs preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
