Job Description

The Center for Regenerative Agriculture (www.cra.missouri.edu) seeks an Educational Program Specialist to serve as project coordinator for grant-funded projects for the center. The Center currently has a team of 20 staff members and consultants working on approximately a dozen projects at the state, regional, and national levels.

The primary responsibility of this position will be supporting the Heartland Project, which is expected to engage nearly 200 producers across Missouri and Nebraska. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with soil sampling, sample processing, data analysis, and the development of a certificate program in regenerative agriculture. The successful candidate may also contribute to additional Center projects based on organizational needs and individual interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate $3.75 million project including enrolling farmers and exchanging information among project team members. This includes helping farmers enroll with the project, answering farmer questions about the project, working with the project intern, and making sure other staff have relevant details on participating farmers and project actions.
  • Plan and organize field days, workshops, and webinars for the Heartland project. This will include material about both the opportunity for farmers in the program and details about how to use virtual fencing.
  • Assist with development and coordination of proposed certificate program on regenerative agriculture. This will include communicating with individuals interested in the certificate program, helping coordinate course offerings, and potentially helping with instruction in one or more relevant courses.
  • Manage collection, processing and data analysis of soil samples for center projects as requested. This will include evaluating soil health test results.
  • Assist with related virtual fencing and grazing efforts as needed. This will include supporting other staff efforts to provide communication and education on virtual fencing.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

40 hour work week; schedule negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in soil science, agronomy, animal science or a related field.

Candidates will be evaluated on: Highest degree earned. Familiarity with regenerative agriculture topics, including soil health as impacted by plants and animals. Effective oral and written communication skills, including delivery of presentations to farmer audiences through field days and workshops. Strong organizational skills and ability to work as a self-starter. Two years of experience with research and education projects, including processing of soils and experience with teaching and curriculum activities related to environmental science and sustainability.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,976 - $72,000 annually

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
