Job Summary

Lead technician responsible for work crews. Assists in hiring, developing, evaluating, and disciplining subordinates. Inspects and coaches to meet or exceed the specifications, safety requirements, and production pace. Ensures that scheduling is maintained to maximize the utilization of crews, equipment, and materials. Maintains communication with other departments to ensure goals are being achieved. Completes and maintains documentation for regulatory requirements. Promotes customer service initiative by maintaining safe and easy to access facilities. Some positions may not require driving a Denver Health vehicle. In those situations, an MVR is not required.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans and coordinates installation, maintenance, repair, and upkeep in the inpatient medical buildings. (10%)
  • Rounds with department heads to build confidence and team work with the Engineering Department. (10%)
  • Assists in maintenance and repair in a variety of skilled trades (5%)
  • Coordinates with other trades to schedule work as a team. (5%)
  • Partners with Vendors on repair & projects in the Inpatient buildings to provide optimal finished product. (5%)
  • Maintains regulatory and compliance records and reports. (5%)
  • Identifies training and staff development needs of employees and ensures that Building Superintendent has all the pertinent info to move forward. (5%)
  • Actively identifies problems and opportunities for improvement; identifies appropriate solution and reports to Supervisor for appropriate approvals. (5%)
  • Adheres to, complies with, and demonstrates support for the mission and value of Denver Health Hospital Authority. (5%)
  • Daily EOC and LS walks in assigned areas to identify areas of improvement. (5%)
  • Affect repairs to ensure assigned area meets EOC and LS standards (5%)
  • Perform a variety of routine and emergency repairs and preventative maintenance to hospital buildings, community clinics, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds, keeping all areas in proper condition as directed. (5%)
  • Finishes: Maintain and repair floor and wall and ceiling covering (e.g. tiles, carpeting, paint, signs (5%)
  • Provide general assistance to skilled tradesmen such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, painters, etc, as directed. (5%)
  • Electrical: Remove and replace duplux outlets and switches. Maintain and service lighting, bulbs and ballasts. (5%)
  • Plumbing: Service of plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets and drains. (5%)
  • Basic carpentry: Hang shelves, fix doors and locks, drawers, cut and install ceiling tiles, etc. (5%)
  • Maintain established hospital and department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, environmental and infection control, & safety and comply with codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies. (5%)

Education:

  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required

Work Experience:

  • Three years working in a Hospital Engineering department required

Licenses:

  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of all hand tools, equipment and machinery required to perform the jobs/tasks of a maintenance technician
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills that promote positive relations in dealing with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and documents
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing, and through E-mail
  • Basic Microsoft Office
