Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer supports the design, development, optimization, and troubleshooting of electrical systems within our Generator Manufacturing Division. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our generator products meet the highest standards of performance, safety, quality, and reliability.

Working closely with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations, the Electrical Engineer develops electrical designs, supports production, analyzes system performance, and drives continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing process.



What You'll Do



  • Design, develop, validate, and maintain electrical systems, wiring harnesses, control panels, and power distribution systems for generator products.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Industrial Engineers to integrate electrical systems into new and existing generator designs.
  • Support production and assembly operations by troubleshooting electrical issues and providing timely technical solutions.
  • Perform root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve product and manufacturing issues.
  • Analyze production and test data to identify trends, improve system performance, and reduce electrical failures.
  • Develop, implement, and document engineering changes while maintaining revision control and engineering documentation.
  • Establish electrical testing procedures, inspection criteria, validation methods, and quality control plans.
  • Support new product development, prototype builds, pilot production, and product launches.
  • Assist in developing operator work instructions and training documentation for electrical assembly and testing.
  • Research new technologies, electrical components, and testing methods to improve product reliability, manufacturability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, UL, NEC, CSA, and industry standards.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Support customer and field service teams with technical expertise as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies and quality standards.
  • Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Zero (0) to five (5) years of experience in electrical design, testing, manufacturing support, or power systems engineering.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, ETAP, or similar electrical design software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, wiring diagrams, and power distribution.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, wiring harnesses, electrical testing methods, and instrumentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


Preferred



  • Experience in generator manufacturing, power generation, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting data center power systems or site electrical design.
  • Knowledge of UL, CSA, NEC, NFPA, and other applicable electrical standards.
  • Experience using Power BI, Excel, MATLAB, or similar analytical software.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering change management.



Preferred Certifications



  • Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
  • OSHA Electrical Safety Training



Physical Requirements



  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely access manufacturing and testing areas for project support, troubleshooting, and equipment validation.
  • Ability to walk throughout the manufacturing facility as needed.
  • Ability to wear required PPE while working in production environments.



Working Conditions



  • Primarily office-based within a manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent interaction with Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and Operations teams.
  • Regular time spent on the manufacturing floor supporting production, testing, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites, vendors, or suppliers may be required.
