Wastewater Treatment Operator
Position Summary
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for operating, calibrating and maintaining all functional wastewater treatment equipment and control systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Collect samples from influent flow, effluent flow and operation basins to meet permit requirements and assess system performance.
- Maintain accurate data records on operational parameters, daily activities, maintenance and collected samples for compliance reporting and operational analysis. Wastewater Daily Data is mandatory.
- Trouble shoot and repair all equipment in the wastewater treatment plant with the cooperation of maintenance department staff. Including plant drainage system.
- It is responsible for the proper operation of the wastewater plant so the BOD, TSS, Ph and oil and grease parameters are always within permissible limits.
- Knows and understands the operation of wastewater, becomes and expert of the waste water plant operations.
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
- Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.
- Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
- Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
- Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
- Report any food safety , food quality, environmental safety related issues to management immediately.
- Report any food safety/quality, health and safety related items to management immediately.
- Proper handling of used oil , universal waste and recycling for the facilities. Including maintaining its areas neatly and organized. Including all paperwork.
- Collects used oils from the blow molds collecting trays on Sundays.
- Perform inspections and assign preventive maintenance of the facilities throw CMMS.
- Operator conducts, records and maintains monthly emergency showers, eye stations, ladders and fire extinguishers inspections
- Manage chemical inventory in the facilities.
- Work with chemical suppliers to improve the treatment and rationalize the use of chemicals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic knowledge of economy Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. |

- Work is performed in plants, workshops, warehouses, and office environments.
- Exposure to cold environments (35-40F) as needed.
- Moderate noise levels: required PPE must be worn in all designated areas.

Hours
Primarily Day, as needed afternoon or night shift; weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
