Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The University Compliance Office ( UCO) provides the University with a full range of Human Resources, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX programs and services to support the University's teaching, research, and public service mission. The department develops and implements strategies and initiatives that will strengthen and support the University's workforce.

The University Compliance Office is UNC-Chapel Hill's designated, central office for addressing issues related to discrimination and harassment based on any protected status, including sexual assault, sexual violence, interpersonal violence, and stalking, as well as retaliation and other related misconduct. UCO addresses all matters related to compliance with relevant education and employment laws and regulations, including Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other related laws. UCO's compliance efforts include creating, implementing, and enforcing University policies that promote an equitable, inclusive, and welcoming campus community; providing accommodations for students and employees based on protected status; handling matters related to equal employment opportunities; and providing educational programs and consulting services in these areas across campus.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC-Chapel Hill Employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

This is a time-limited position with an estimated duration of one year.


The Testing Assistant will work in the UCO's Testing Center, which is an on-site location available for students to take exams for which they have disability accommodations.

The Testing Assistant works with all aspects of graduate, undergraduate, and professional student testing coordination. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting in the overall facilitation of testing, ensuring appropriate implementation of testing accommodations per a student's legally determined academic accommodations, proctoring exams, preparing exam materials, answering email and phone questions related to testing, preparation of exams (materials, scheduling, checking, etc.), faculty and staff communications, follow-up with student communication, scheduling of exams, overseeing the security and maintenance of confidential exam records, and collecting data related to exams and benchmarking. They will assist in the overall facilitation of testing, daily office function related to the Testing Center duties, and all other duties as required. Duties will also include assisting with the administration of accommodating final examinations and commencement, which will include working outside of normally scheduled hours.

The Testing Assistant will report directly to the Testing Coordinator and will assist with administrative duties as they relate to the Testing Center and exam proctoring.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Management Preferences
* Show understanding of the University environment and ability to work with students, faculty, staff, parents/ families, and community partners to address many situations and/or concerns.
* Experience with PeopleSoft, Excel, and other sensitive data management platform(s).
* Knowledge of legislative framework governing the work of the Unit.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
