The UCSF Prenatal Diagnostic Center provides comprehensive counseling, screening and diagnostic testing for fetal disorders. The Prenatal Diagnostic Center is part of UCSF Women's Health - a nationally designated center of excellence in women's health - and patients are ensured the highest quality care and service. They benefit from the most advanced technologies and procedures. Our practitioners bring a wealth of experience and expertise, having performed more than 40,000 amniocentesis and 17,000 chorionic villus sampling procedures over the last 35 years. Locations include in California are: Mission Bay l Greenbrae l Monterey l San Mateo l Santa Rosa.

Performs ultrasound to assist physician in guidance of amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling procedures per operational needs. Performs ultrasound to demonstrate anatomy in fetuses of pregnant women. Participates in improvement activities in department. Maintains appropriate quality control records and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance.

This role is a part-time 50% appt position for the Prenatal Diagnostic Center location. This position requires a flexible schedule. The successful candidate must be available to work weekdays with variable day shift hours based on departmental and operational needs.

90% ADHERES TO POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
* Perform sonography to guide chorionic villus sampling for prenatal diagnosis of genetic defects.
* Perform sonography to guide amniocentesis for prenatal diagnosis of genetic defects.
* Perform sonography to determine normality of first, second and third trimester pregnancies.
* Provide after-care instructions to patients undergoing prenatal diagnosis procedures per operational needs.
* Demonstrates knowledge and ability to produce quality images following established departmental protocols to include technique, views, positioning, proper labeling and patient ID.
* Properly prepares room and equipment prior to imaging and after completion of the exam.
* Properly troubleshoots equipment failures, documents and reports to appropriate individual.
* Prepares patient for imaging. Identifies self, explains the procedure and confirms patient ID and the order for testing.
* Participates in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents and faculty.
* Performs ultrasound examinations on obstetric inpatients, and participates in after-hours call service for obstetric patients per operational needs.
* Meet physical requirements to perform all aspects of diagnostic sonography studies in the inpatient as well as outpatient settings, including but not limited to performing portable exams and assisting with transfer of transferring wheelchair patients
* Travels to satellite offices.

10% INFORMATION MANAGEMENT.
* Demonstrates competency in the RGU database and Apex/Epic Health information systems
* Demonstrates competency on the related ultrasound equipment.
* Insures that clinical data is correct and appropriate for specific procedures being requested.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other duties as assigned.

o Attends professional meetings or seminars to keep current within the field of diagnostic imaging.
o Complies with the department expectations and standards.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
o Participate in related performance improvement projects for the department and hospital.
o Attends required hospital training and in-services.

o Demonstrates effective use of time.
o Is conscientious regarding the use of supplies.
o Adheres to the productivity standards of the department

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT.
o Demonstrates competency in the RGU database and Apex/Epic Health information systems

o Ensures that clinical data is correct and appropriate for specific procedures being requested.

Required:

* Two years of college, preferably with courses in physiology, psychology and electronics, and two years of experience in diagnostic ultrasound technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
* Graduation from CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
* Successful completion Senior Sonographer competency checklist

Required Certifications/Licenses:

* ARDMS board certification in OB/GYN
* NT certification through FMF, NTQR, or equivalent required prior to or within 90 days of start date.
* BLS
* Ob/Gyn certifications
* SPI exam

Preferred:

* 1 year experience in a high-risk obstetric ultrasound service

Salary Information


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
