| Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Center for Academic Advising seeks a temporary academic advisor that will provide academic advising and support during our incoming academic year. Advising caseload will be determined based on number of hours worked (range is 10-29 hours per week). This position will support first-year and transfer students and will be expected to provide accurate academic policy and curricular information to assist in short-term and long-term academic program planning and career goal clarification. This position will be working with all students served by the Center for Academic Advising which includes freshmen, transfers, military and pre-professional students. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- A Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a closely related field, with three years of progressive experience in academic advising, student support services, or a comparable area; or at least 18 hours of discipline focused master level coursework in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience utilizing a range of software applications and educational technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and other technology-enhanced delivery platforms.
This position may require irregular work hours, including occasional evenings and weekends. This position is expected to be in-person, with the possibility of some remote work. |

- Experience in a university/college setting, with experience in academic advising preferred
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, effective organization skills and detail oriented
- Exhibit cultural competence and possess a broad understanding of student academic, developmental and social needs
- Working knowledge of student development theory, advising strategies, and best practices to support student success initiatives in a university/college environment
