The University of Virginia's number one ranked Department of Student Health and Wellness (SHW) provides a comprehensive range of medical, mental health, well-being, and disability support services to all enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. The University of Virginia's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), a unit within the Department of Student Health and Wellness, is seeking to hire a full-time mental health professional for the position of Staff Psychotherapist - Embedded in the McIntire School of Commerce. The Staff Psychotherapist - Embedded in the McIntire School of Commerce is a staff member of CAPS and provides mental health services to McIntire students in UVA's bachelor and graduate programs. Embedded Psychotherapist: The Embedded Psychotherapist is a licensed mental health professional who provides accessible, culturally responsive, and context-informed mental health services within a designated school, academic department, or student community at the university. By working directly within the setting where students live, learn, and engage, the Embedded Psychotherapist increases access to mental health support, strengthens relationships with faculty and staff, and enhances the community's overall capacity to support student well-being. The role integrates clinical service delivery, consultation, outreach, and systems-level collaboration. Although embedded in a specific context, the therapist remains an active member of the university's central Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) team and participates in center-wide functions, quality standards, and initiatives. This Embedded Psychotherapist will be located full-time at the McIntire School of Commerce. About the Position The preferred deadline for applications is July 16, 2026. This is primarily a sedentary role involving extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or programs. The salary range for this position is $ $80,000- $100,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
