THE POSITION

As a County Caseworker 2 with Allegheny County Children & Youth Services, you will help families work through challenges and build stronger foundations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on supporting families from the moment they are referred to the agency until their involvement ends. The position centers on investigation, planning, service coordination, and documentation to ensure child safety and family progress. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Investigative Work: Conduct interviews, visits, and record reviews to assess child safety and determine service needs
- Family Planning: Lead conferencing processes, prepare families, and guide teams in building effective Family Plans
- Court Preparation: Develop reports, petitions, and testimony materials required for hearings and legal proceedings
- Case Documentation: Maintain accurate records and enter case information in required systems according to regulations
- Service Coordination: Connect families with supports, monitor progress, and provide crisis intervention when necessary
- Child Supervision: Oversee children in placement and maintain contact with families, foster caregivers, and service partners
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 1-hour lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week after 6 months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
- Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
- A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
