THE POSITION

Join the Department of Transportation as a Highway Foreman 2 and help shape the safety and quality of our roadways! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees highway maintenance projects and guides crews through daily operations to keep roadways safe and functional. As a Highway Foreman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Crew Supervision: Lead a team performing highway maintenance tasks and ensure work is completed to expected standards
  • Project Planning: Organize daily and long term maintenance work to support safe and efficient travel conditions
  • Equipment Oversight: Monitor proper use of tools, heavy equipment, and vehicles during maintenance activities
  • Safety Leadership: Promote safe work practices and respond quickly to incidents or environmental hazards
  • Complaint Response: Review roadway concerns, investigate issues, and determine appropriate maintenance actions
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate reports of field activities, incidents, and maintenance needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
