ABOUT THE ROLE

The iOS Engineer II role is responsible for building and maintaining our iOS and tvOS applications. You'll work closely with experienced mobile engineers to develop new features, improve application performance, and deliver a reliable experience for millions of users.

You'll collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams throughout the development lifecycle while continuing to build your technical skills and contribute to the team's engineering practices. This is a unique opportunity to join an ambitious mobile team using agentic workflows to build and ship high-quality features.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain features for the FOX News iOS and tvOS applications using Swift and UIKit.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while participating in peer code reviews.
  • Investigate and resolve bugs, crashes, and performance issues.
  • Write unit and UI tests to maintain and improve code quality.
  • Participate in sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and other Agile team ceremonies.
  • Learn and follow team standards for architecture, coding practices, testing, and release processes.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and onboarding materials for the mobile codebase.
  • Continue learning Apple frameworks, mobile development best practices, and team technologies.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 2+ years of professional experience developing native iOS applications, or equivalent experience through internships, personal projects, or open-source contributions.
  • Proficiency in Swift with a solid understanding of UIKit and the iOS SDK.
  • Understanding of core iOS development concepts, including view controllers, Auto Layout, table and collection views, networking, and local data persistence.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, OpenCode or similar) to support software development and improve engineering productivity.
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON using Codable or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Exposure to unit testing using XCTest and an understanding of software quality best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a collaborative engineering team.
  • Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace a minimum of 3 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience with SwiftUI and modern Swift concurrency (async/await).
  • Familiarity with automated UI testing (XCUITest).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or mobile build systems such as Xcode Cloud, Fastlane, or Azure Pipelines.
  • Experience publishing an application to the App Store.
  • Familiarity with video playback, media applications, or tvOS development.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $114,000.00-132,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
