About The Position

The Turbine Engineer is responsible for developing, planning, and executing turbine-generator projects and providing technical expertise on turbine-generator designs, inspections, operation, repairs and/or replacements within the Ameren Missouri Fleet.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for development of engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, risk assessments, maintenance, repair and replacement specifications, coordination, liaison, and administrative functions related to steam, combustion, and/or hydro turbine-generators.
  • Determine maintenance/replacement requirements and operational standards or limits, plan and direct maintenance outages and testing, and coordinate projects involving turbine-generator equipment and related systems.
  • Procure contractor services to support turbine-generator projects and oversee their work including supervision of consultants and field service engineers.
  • Procure and QC materials required for turbine-generator projects.
  • Provide engineering assistance to energy centers and other departments within the company on maintenance and operational issues associated with turbine-generator equipment, interface with industry contacts and outside corporations, including professional organizations, consultants, and contractors.
  • Monitor industry trends regarding operation and maintenance of assigned equipment and perform engineering studies to improve turbine-generator reliability, performance, efficiency, and safety.
  • Develop and review design alterations consistent with Ameren's Design Change Process.
  • Optimize equipment availability/reliability through use of predictive/analytical technologies and trending including PiVision (Plant Information Monitoring and Data Storage System), vibration analysis, fluid analysis, electrical signal analysis, etc.
  • Prepare required reports, job requisitions, work orders, and other documents; maintenance of records; and revision of drawings.
  • Subject to significant travel between Ameren generating facilities, extended working hours, nights/weekend/holiday coverage, and travel to vendor facilities to monitor equipment repairs.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited college or university required. Experience with steam turbine or combined cycle turbine-generator maintenance, operations and/or project management at fossil and/or nuclear power plants desired, but recent graduates with a desire for hands-on learning and drive to understand equipment operations and deliver innovative repair solutions will also be considered.

In addition to the above qualifications, the following knowledge is beneficial:

Turbine control systems, digital plant controls, monitoring instrumentation and sensors, generators, or large rotating machinery vibration analysis and balancing experience. Pursuit of professional registrations and/or advanced degrees is supported in this role.

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$71,100.00 - $172,200.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
